My mom’s

Diabetes is not just interesting to me. This is a burning passion because my mom died from the complications of diabetes in 2008. She struggled with managing her blood sugars, how to eat (or what to eat less of), and part of her challenge was generational. She was raised working poor, and to her, food was everything. As a nurse practitioner, I see patients struggle with their weight, nutrition, physical activity, understanding medications, and how to work with their diabetes team. When I work with my patients, I love breaking down complex ideas/ how medications work, and the disease process into real-life examples.
